Today I'm grieving the loss and celebrating the life of my Uncle Dick. He was my movie star-handsome, rugged, outdoorsy, woodworking, tennis playing uncle. In October, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The last 7 months have been very difficult for his family and for my mom and grandmother. Today is his funeral, and it's a tough day for my whole family.
Dick had a wicked sense of humor. He and my mom searched all year long for the funniest/meanest birthday cards for each other that they could find. I always looked forward to reading the one he sent. Nobody can put you in your place quite like your brother! (I should know, right Jason?)
He will be so missed in our family. I ask for your prayers especially for his wife Cindy, his sons Michael, Matt and Alex, my mom and my grandmother. Thanks, friends!

Hi Amy - I can so relate to your sadness. Today is the second anniversary of my younger sister's "going home." And I miss her soooooo much. The same week I buried her, I received divorce papers in the mail. And Sunday I came across your blog and after two years of wanting to attend She Speaks, I have made the decision to take the plunge - God will make a financial way - and register. In the past two years I have been given the opportunity at work to train many teachers in large and small groups. And I have also had many opportunities to share my faith and my testimony. Coming to She Speaks and going through the speakers strand hopefully will help me decide if this is the path God wants me to follow. Thanks for all the encouraging words. And I will say a prayer for you and your family today.
Praying for you and your family right now. Love you!
I've already said a prayer for you and your family. I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss.
Sending you hugs,
Kate
