First of all, Today is your birthday! Happy Birthday, Baby! Today is my honey bunch's birthday. Isn't he cute?

The other thing on my mind is braces. At the last dentist visit, the dentist gave us the disconcerting news that not one but both of my boys needed to see the orthodonist. AAAGH!!! So yesterday we went.
This orthodonist is smart. He has his office decorated like a luau. His staff is not only friendly but hilarious (he told me that he hires for humor not necessarily ability :) It's like a party to go to the orthodonist.
That softened the sticker shock just a little. Sigh. My parents did it for me, though. Thanks, Mom and Dad! My brother says that I looked like a beaver in my before pictures, so I'm eternally grateful.
Nolan will get his first "appliance" in two weeks. Poor kid. He thinks it's cool, because all his middler schooler friends have braces. He doesn't even know what's coming! The smile at the end of 2 1/2 years will be worth it.

Happy Birthday to your Hubby!
My daughter, who is 9, was told that she will need braces when she a bit older... possibly. So now, she thinks she's getting them and soon. She is always looking at her teeth and pointing out the fact that one of them is starting to turn a bit in the front because of the others coming in. All I can say is... Aaahh! too. I don't want to see the sticker in a few years--I can just imagine. lol
I pray both of your boys adjust to them well!
14 DAYS!!!
We have one $6000 mouth in our house, and another one who has only reached the $2000 mark so far - so I understand your pain of sticker shock! It does seem to be "cool" to get braces these days, so I hope your sons enjoy their newfound metal coolness! Maybe if you're lucky, they will get neon green rubberbands too. Smiles.
In point of fact, you were starting to deforest the neighborhood and build dams in our backyard when the braces first went on. I have pictures to prove it.
Love,
Your bro.
Don't you DARE post any of those!!!
I thought about doing it myself, but I thought better of it. TOO SCARY!!
I've seen you on P31, but I didn't realize you were from my area (Raleigh/Garner). :) So I've been reading back on some of your posts and the comments. It was neat to see my friend at myawesomeoliveshoots! And then I saw this post about braces. We actually have one who is finished, and she just turned 13. Who is your ortho? If he hasn't gotten them already, give him Advil BEFORE he goes in for the wires. And think of something soft for dinner. Now I'm waiting for the next one - which will actually be the youngest of my older bunch. Go figure!
Oh, I'll have to see what that Atlas school is about. I've not heard of it. Will your boys go there?
