My Sunday school class is doing a book study with the rest of the church called Living by the Book. I'm loving it! It's a book about studying the Bible, and I'm being so challenged to learn some new ways to approach God's Word.
We're using the method of reading repeatedly this week. One quote from the book was that a Bible teacher gave an insight that he had received after reading a passage for the 100th time. Wow! That takes such perseverance and patience. It also reflects a faith that each passage in scripture has treasures to be mined if only we'll invest.
This week our assignment is to read Romans 5 every day with a new little twist every day. Today I read it from The Message to get a slightly different view. Here's another thought on what I shared on Monday.
"By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us--set us right with him, make us fit for him--we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that's not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand--out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise."
Glorious and worth reading again! What do you do to really understand the Bible?

Repeat reading is a great idea! I reread short passages several times before I move on. I have never read from several different translations, I'll have to try it.
