What's in a Gift?

What's the best present you've ever gotten?

All of us Jesus girls can agree that salvation is the most precious gift ever, but what about a gift from another human?

I think my all time favorite gift was the party that Hubby planned for my 40th. He did all the work, and it was so much fun. The icing on the cake, though, was that his band (a Blues Brothers imitation band) played. They're both gifted and hysterical, so it was a blast to listen and shake my groove thang. It was a rich gift--rich with love and thoughtfulness and fun.

I heard a great idea for a gift this week when I was speaking for the Salem Baptist MOPS group. Their leader, LeAnne, started sponsoring a child with Compassion International this summer, but she did it in secret. She explained that she's wrapping up the child sponsorship packet as a gift under the Christmas tree for her children. It's a reminder that it's a gift to share what we have.

What a fabulous idea! If you'd like to steal...uhhum...borrow that idea, you can click on the Compassion link to the right to start a child sponsorship today. I promise that not only will it be a gift to the child that you sponsor but to your whole family as well.

We sponsor a child through World Vision. I think that my children have learned so much by the letters and updates that we receive from her. I would encourage everyone to give the gift of sponsorship this Christmas! Carla

The best present I ever received from another human being was the gift of motherhood. Both of my beautiful children are adopted and are truly gifts from God using birth moms who were brave enough to choose life.
