The Church of Oprah

I want to start by saying there are things that I admire about Oprah. I like her determination to contribute positively to the world. I love her generousity and strength.

But I think she's done something really revealing, and I'm deeply insensed.

Here's the description of Oprah's newest show, Super Soul Sunday, on OWN, her new network:

"Nourish your mind, body and spirit every Sunday on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Each week from 8-11 a.m. ET/PT, Oprah Winfrey presents a special three-hour block of programming called "Super Soul Sunday," designed to help viewers awaken their best selves and discover a deeper connection to the world around them.

Watch a sneak peek!

Exploring topics including spirituality, the afterlife, alternative health, happiness and personal fulfillment, "Super Soul Sunday" will present fresh and thoughtful insights into what it means to truly live your best life."

So let's get this straight. On Sunday morning during traditional church hours, Oprah is going to teach us about "spirituality, the afterlife, health, happiness and personal fulfillment."

At this point I have to tell you that I'm restraining myself from writing all kinds of sarcastic and caustic things. You can fill in the blanks.

Thanks, Oprah, but I think I'll continue to seek the Truth from the Author of Truth and from a source higher than my cable tv.

Well said! There is one truth and it is Him.

Oh Amy, my sentiments over Ms. Winfrey are exactly yours.

I have felt this way for years, but didn't want to appear to be a naysayer. However, when she is refuting truths, it's not naysaying, it's bringing the darkness in to the light.

I pray for Oprah, as I pray for everyone. So many people listen to her which is so very frightening.

Thank you for sharing HIS truths!

Wow, that is dangerous. Tricky. When the Truth is set aside, a void yawns open, begging to be filled somehow, huh? She's trying to fill that in herself, in her viewers.

We can lovingly pray for her and for that series that it leave viewers, and her, unsatisfied until they get it in Him.

Soberly, warmly,

Hi Friend!
I must say that this doesn't surprise me a bit. Hmmmm, causes us to think about prophesy of false teaching in the final days, don't you think?? And sadly, so many followers.

Praying for you, your team, and your trip!!!

Love and hugs!

Yes, this is very dangerous, indeed. We are suppose to do what We think is right and what we think feels good even though it is not in God's word. It is like we are in control of our own destination, but we are Not ...God is. I used to absolutely love her, but the last years of her show I refused to watch it because of some of the content on her show.

Heartbreaking, huh?
Sadly, Oprah has a large following who will skip right down her worldly-view sidewalk.
I noticed a young friend on FB this week excitedly sharing about her love for this Oprah "help"!

I can't tell you how important it is for parents TO TEACH THE TRUTH. Our society is falling deeper into the pit of lies.

Satan has certain deceived her with a "God Complex", and sadly many are following her. Lets all pray that God opens her eyes to the truth! Thanks for sharing http://goo.gl/XuGaJ

Oprah knows exactly what she is doing by scheduling her program during church hours...may God awaken His disobedient people to commit themselves to gathering together in the true body of Christ.

God is no respecter of persons. Greater personalities than oprah has tried God but never lived to testify. She is on a mission.

Her master Satan has agents out in the world to lead many to hell and Oprah know exactly what she is doing.

She can be compared with Jezebel in Revelations that was a snare to the church. Many are lured by all her gimmicks.

we need to pray for the Church because the end is nearer than ever.

May God help his children.

Hi Amy,
Oh dear. Here is how I feel, and maybe I'm being too positive...I'm not an Oprah watcher. Never have been. But I too, admire her tenacity and her desire to awaken millions to the value of contributing and giving to others, among other things.

I would like to think, that the people who watch this show are already folks who aren't going to church. I can't imagine any churchgoing Christian folks would decide to stay home and watch Oprah instead.

Raised with no religion, or no knowledge of Jesus, I came to Christianity after searching and dabbling into other "soul" paths. Only after realizing nothing fulfilled, did the Lord help me realize He was the truth, and the only truth. If it hadn't been for buddhism, I might not have discovered Jesus, believe it or not (long story).

So let's pray that Oprah's show will awaken the desire to find something deeper within the hearts of those who watch her show. That those awakened spirits will begin to recognize the void in their hearts that only Jesus can fill. One first must become aware of that void-so many are on autopilot these days and oblivious to it.

I have to believe that it will happen. At least for some, as it did for me. (although no credit to Oprah:)

God Bless you all!

Exactly Amy! I have pondered this "hold" Oprah has over people. I don't have the answers but it seems pride plays a big part. She talks of being raised Baptist and refers to a sermon where she heard the pastor say that "God is a jealous God." She says that she just couldn't serve a God who would be jealous of HER! What a horrible misuse of His Word and a sad, dangerous path she has chosen. Agreeing with Kristi Butler -- False teaching in the final days is exactly what we are seeing here.
